The Chicago Bears are getting the final preparations in place leading up to kickoff against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.

Going into the weekend, the Bears ruled three starters out in right tackle Darnell Wright, linebacker T.J. Edwards and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett with multiple other players having their statuses still up in the air.

Now, we finally got the final word on some of those “questionable” players and the team’s final inactives list for Week 4 brings some bittersweet news for head coach Ben Johnson’s offense.

Chicago Bears Week 4 Inactives

  • LB T.J. Edwards
  • DT Grady Jarrett
  • RT Darnell Wright
  • CB Kyler Gordon
  • TE Colston Loveland
  • DT Chris Williams
  • QB Case Keenum (Emergency 3rd QB)

Going into Sunday, it seemed like rookie tight end Colston Loveland was going to be a long shot to play considering the team elevated Stephen Carlson from the practice squad. With Loveland now officially inactive, the Bears will go into the game with Cole Kmet, Durham Smythe, and Carlson at the position.

As for some good news, the Bears will have running back D’Andre Swift in the backfield. Swift was limited for each day of practice this week with a hip injury. Head coach Ben Johnson spoke multiple times about the inconsistent run game this week and believes the team was close to breaking big plays on multiple carries last week. The staff is hoping this is the week the run game gets going with Swift officially in the fold along with rookie Kyle Monangai splitting the share.

Another notable takeaway from the inactives, nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon will not be suiting up for the fourth straight game, and just like with Edwards, it’s the right call to make. Sitting Gordon for this game gives him plenty of time to fully recover and avoid reaggravating his hamstring injury. It’d be nice to have Gordon out there flying around on defense, especially with a thin position group, but this is the correct long-term call to make.

Last but not least, we will see a debut game today with second-round offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo on the active roster for the first time in his career. Trapilo was a healthy inactive for each of the first three games but will suit up on Sunday with Darnell Wright out. However, it’ll be Theo Benedet getting the start at right tackle with Trapilo serving as the swing tackle and immediate backup.
