Chicago Bears general manager gets to add a feather to his cap after coming away victorious in one midseason trade.

The Bears traded Robert Quinn to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft. Poles wasn’t deterred to make the deal despite Quinn’s 18.5 sacks just a season ago.

Quinn’s decline was evident in 2022, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, Chicago ultimately made the right move.

In fact, Quinn played in six games for the Eagles recording just two tackles since the trade. Part of that could be due to the fact the Eagles’ defensive line is deeper than the one in Chicago. However, the 32-year-old was clearly slowing down and the Bears needed all of the draft capital they can get.

Bears fans anxiously await Poles’ decisions that are looming in the next couple of months. Chicago has nearly $100 million in salary cap space for the 2023 offseason. As if that isn’t enough to ramp up the rebuild, the team is in fantastic position to accumulate even more draft picks by dangling the No. 1 pick in front of QB-needy teams.
