Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles is adding another feather to his cap in what can only be characterized as a tremendous offseason for the franchise. Chicago continues to lock up talented players as the team announced the signing of first-round pick OT Darnell Wright.

Less than three weeks removed from the 2023 NFL Draft, the Bears have already signed seven of their 10 selections. Wright is accompanied by fellow rookies WR Tyler Scott and DT Zacch Pickens who the Bears also inked to rookie deals.

Wright, drafted with the No. 10 overall pick, will provide an instant impact on the much-improved right side of the line as he will likely line up next to RG Nate Davis. Wright adds a sense of security for QB Justin Fields who wasn’t afforded adequate protection last season, which hindered his development as a passer.

Not only will Wright create more opportunities with his pass-blocking skills, but he will pave the way for running backs D’Onta Foreman, Khalil Herbert and rookie Roschon Johnson in the run game.

Now that Chicago’s most-prized possession is signed, sealed and delivered, Poles can now turn his attention to the three members of the 2023 draft class who are without rookie deals. The aforementioned Johnson falls into this category along with second-round picks DT Gervon Dexter Sr. and CB Tyrique Stevenson.
