Confidence is an important attribute to have in the National Football League, it's even more important for a quarterback getting ready to make his first career start.

Chicago Bears undrafted rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent will be in that situation this weekend against the Las Vegas Raiders and his confidence seems to be unwavering.

Bagent is expected to start in place of injured quarterback Justin Fields in Week 7. Fields is currently listed as doubtful for the matchup with a thumb injury.

Bagent's poise going into the week and preparing for his first game stems from the mindset he was able to create for himself back at Shepherd University.

"Coming where from where I come from, I've pretty much beat every odd that there was for me," Bagent said while speaking with reporters on Wednesday. "So, you know I got nothing to lose. I'm gonna go out there and fight with these guys to the death and try to stack up as many wins as I can till till we get Justin [Fields] back."

Bagent entered the game last Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings in the third quarter after Fields left the game with his thumb injury. Bagent was quickly thrown into the fire for the Bears but now gets to take full advantage of having the entire week to prepare for possibly being the starter in Week 7.

"It is different standing on the sideline for a good bit and then getting put in the game but the plays are still the plays," Bagent added. "We still have our process, we still have our operation. So, it will be a little bit more comfortable with the the amount of reps that I'm going to receive this week."

Bagent will still have the luxury of being able to pick Fields brain throughout the week and be able to continue learning from him going into potentially his first career start.

"The whole time I've been here, Justin has been a huge leader by example," he said. "And then since [his] injury, everybody really has done a great job kind of rallying behind me and letting me know that they believe in me. Him specifically, he told me that anything I need, don't hesitate to ask. I haven't and I think that's gonna serve the team well on Sunday."

The Bears won't be the only ones in this game with quarterback uncertainty going into Sunday's game. The Raiders are also planning to potentially be without quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who injured his back and left the field by ambulance in Week 6's win over the Patriots.

If Garoppolo can't play on Sunday, the Raiders will have to choose between Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O'Connell to start against the Bears.
