The Chicago Bears are coming off a massive Week 14 win over the Detroit Lions and the win couldn’t be sweeter for head coach Matt Eberflus.

After winning his first division game in Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings, the Bears head coach knocked another milestone off his bucket list that he's been waiting to cross off for a long time.

With the Bears 28-13 win, the team has officially won consecutive games for the first time since hiring Eberflus in 2022.

"I think it's a big deal," Eberflus said after the game. "It's been a long time coming to win two in a row and it's two division opponents, which is big. The guys are super excited, but we could feel this coming with the improvement that was happening over time. I just kept telling them, if you keep doing right, it's gonna be right, and good things are gonna happen."

Prior to Week 12, the Bears had lost nine consecutive games against NFC North opponents under Eberflus. Now, the team has riled off two straight including knocking off the current division leader in the Lions.

The team's newly acquired pass rusher Montez Sweat took the time after the win on Sunday to praise his new head coach.

"Coach Eberflus is a great coach," Sweat said. "He keeps us motivated. I've never seen a head coach run the team and call defensive plays. A lot of respect for him as a coach."

The win was one of the biggest upsets of the entire week and surely felt good for the Bears after blowing a double digit lead the last time the two teams squared off back in Week 11.

"There was never a point where the morale was bad," Eberflus added. "I appreciate their leadership because they hung together through adversity. Football is tough, it's hard to win, so it's it's really good by [the team] hanging together."

The Bears outscored the Lions by 15 points and had 69 more total yards than their divisional rival. The Bears had 3+ takeaways for the third consecutive week and have now won three of their last four games.

The Bears win on Sunday also marked the team's first win following the bye week since 2013. All around it was a great outcome for the team in terms of building confidence in the locker room during the final stretch of the season.
