Can the Bears keep winning the battle of the trenches vs. Detroit?

The Chicago Bears have been flexing their strength in the trenches, both offensively and defensively, throughout the first 10 weeks of the season.

The Bears offense is 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards, 8th in yards per carry, 4th in rushing first downs, and have the 3rd best run grade (according to Pro Football Focus). The blocking unit upfront is expected to have their best starting five available according to head coach Matt Eberflus with guard Nate Davis set to return.

The Bears offense is also about to have two of their top rushers back in Week 11 in quarterback Justin Fields and running back Khalil Herbert. Both Fields and Herbert are averaging over 5.0 yards per carry on the season. Meanwhile, the Lions defense has given up the 2nd fewest rushing yards and allowed the fifth fewest yards per carry in the NFL entering Week 11.

On defense, the Bears have been equally as dominant in defending the run. The Bears currently have allowed the 4th fewest rushing yards, the fewest yards per carry allowed, and the third lowest rushing 1st-down percentage.

The Bears will have to defend against two of the top running backs in the NFL deployed by Lions' offense. Former Bears running back David Montgomery leads the Lions with 7 rushing touchdowns and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs has scored 4 rushing touchdowns over his last three games. Both players have been insanely productive over the last few weeks and each rank among the best in the league.

It'll be an exciting battle in the trenches on Sunday with both sides looking to enforce their will against the other. The fight to see which unit overpowers the man across from them will ultimately decide this NFC North matchup in Week 11.

3 other players to watch:

QB Justin Fields- The Bears starting quarterback will return under center after missing the last 4 weeks of the season. Fields has 7 games remaining to prove to the team's front office that he can be the franchise quarterback, that audition starts on Sunday.

RG Nate Davis- The Bears $30 million free agent is expected to start at right guard on Sunday after also missing the last 4 weeks due to injury. Davis hasn't lived up to his big contract so far in Chicago, can he change that narrative against a strong pass rush?

WR Equanimeous St. Brown- St. Brown returned for the Bears last week off the injured reserve and played 39% of the offensive snaps against the Panthers. With Fields and Herbert back, they'll need to rely on his run blocking expertise off the edge.
