The Chicago Bears are not in good shape right now when it comes to wide receivers.

Chicago's depth at the position was already lacking entering training camp.

And now that we're a couple of weeks into camp, that depth is being stretched to its limits.

Chicago is going to be without free agent addition N'Keal Harry for a bit as he's dealing with a high ankle sprain.

Byron Pringle is currently out with a quad injury. And rookie Velus Jones Jr is also day-to-day.

That's three of the Bears' expected top four wide receivers that are currently battling injuries.

It's easy to see how this could be a big issue this season.

That's why I think Chicago needs to make some moves before the season starts. And one smart move could be to trade for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Preston Williams.

Miami has reportedly had trade discussions centered around Williams.

Williams is an obviously physically talented wide receiver who could probably benefit from a change of scenery. He's expressed some unhappiness this summer with his lack of opportunities in the Dolphins' offense.

The former Colorado State/Tennessee wide receiver has flashed elite abilities at times with the Dolphins, but injuries and coaching uncertainty have prevented him from reaching his full potential.

Trading for Williams would obviously be a gamble. There's no guarantee he'll ever reach his ceiling. But the Dolphins would probably give him to Chicago for a late-round draft pick (probably a seventh-round pick). That's a small price to pay for a wide receiver who could pay major dividends for the Bears.

And if he doesn't work out, Chicago wouldn't be out very much.

This would be an easy way for the Bears to get some cheap help with potential. It's really too good of an opportunity to pass up if you're Chicago.
