The Chicago Bears (2-6) are set to face the New Orleans Saints (4-4) in Week 9 with the Bears returning to the bayou for the first time in the regular season since 2017.
The Bears have had a tough history against the Saints in recent years. Chicago hasn't beaten New Orleans since Week 15, 2008 and have lost each of their last seven head-to-head matchups.
Marcedes Lewis, Patrick Scales, and Duron Harmon are the only players on the Bears entire roster who were even born the last time the Bears beat the Saints in their home stadium in Week 9, 1991. History will prove to be yet another factor working against the Bears on Sunday.

Can the Bears contain Saints RB Alvin Kamara?
This is slated to be the biggest question for the Bears defense on Sunday and likely the one that will decide the entire game.
Matt Eberflus' defense has struggled twice this season defending against top tier pass catching backs being used out of the backfield. In Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, running back Aaron Jones had 86 receiving yards, 41 rushing yards and two total touchdowns in the 38-20 loss.
Last week against the Los Angeles Chargers, running back Austin Ekeler totaled 94 receiving yards, 29 rushing yards, and one touchdown in the 30-13 loss. Jones and Ekeler are among the Top-4 best receiving backs in the league, Kamara is debatably better than both of them.
Since returning from his suspension in Week 4, Kamara has totaled 7.8 receptions per game and has had 50+ receiving yards in each of his last two games. Eberflus will need to have his unit prepared to handle Kamara out of the backfield, but they'll be without a crucial player who can make that happen.
Starting linebacker Tremaine Edmunds has been ruled out with a knee injury he suffered in Week 8 against the Chargers. Without Edmunds, a lot of pressure will be on fellow linebacker T.J. Edwards. Edwards leads the team with 85 total tackles but has a 64.5 coverage grade in 2023, according to Pro Football Focus. Will Edwards, and his nearly $48 million contract be up to the challenge?
3 Other Players To Watch:
DL Montez Sweat- The Bears freshly paid and newly acquired pass rusher is set to made his debut on Sunday against the Saints. Bears fans are excited to see the difference Sweat brings to the team's pass rush that has struggled all season.
LB Jack Sanborn- The Bears second-year linebacker is set to start in Week 9 in place of an injured Tremaine Edmunds. Sanborn started 6 games for the Bears in 2022 and 5 games already this season, totaling 38 tackles and 1 interception.
S Eddie Jackson- The Bears starting safety and defensive veteran will make his return against the Saints after missing the last two games of the season. Bears HC Matt Eberflus said Jackson is fully healthy and ready to be out making plays once again.
