The Chicago Bears' purge of the previous regime's decisions continued on Tuesday with the release of wide receiver Dazz Newsome.
Newsome was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by Chicago.
The former North Carolina Tar Heels standout barely played last season, catching just two passes for 23 yards.

Newsome looked good at times during training camp, but he didn't flash quite enough for the new Bears front office to keep him on the roster.
I'm sure, however, that Newsome will receive another chance in the NFL. Newsome is a speedy wide receiver who runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.38 range. That's not quite Tyreek Hill-level speed, but it's enough speed to stretch the field.
A team that needs a deep threat will likely give Newsome a shot.
Chicago better hope they made the right decision here. Because the last thing they need to do is release a young promising player who catches on with another team and becomes a starting wide receiver elsewhere in the NFL.
