The Chicago Bears first-round selection is expected to have his hands full in his regular season debut against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus mentioned that he expects the Packers to "throw the fastball" against their rookie right tackle Darnell Wright.

"[The Packers] got some good players up front, they got a lot of first round picks on that defense, and a lot of them are up front," Eberflus explained. "Those guys are going to throw their fastball and [Wright's] got to be able to do his thing in terms of setting the right way, setting in pass pro, being aggressive, but under control in the run game.

Wright will be thrown to the fire early in his career as he's set to line up against an entire stable of pass rushers deployed by the Packers in his first game of the season.

The unit is expected to return former first-round pick Rashan Gary to the lineup on Sunday and will be debuting the 13th overall pick, Lukas Van Ness. That's not even taking into account Preston Smith, who recorded two sacks against the Bears during their first meeting last season.

The 10th overall pick in April's draft faced his fair-share of facing top pass rushers during his final season at Tennessee. He managed to put together a strong performance against number three overall pick Will Anderson back in October and held firm against a top unit thrown his way by the eventual National Champion Georgia Bulldogs a month later.

Wright has progressed remarkably well throughout his first offseason in the NFL and has set high expectations for his rookie campaign. Those expectations were met during his preseason debut, where Wright was able to showcase why the Bears opted to select him with their first pick of the draft.

Week 1 should prove to be a major opening challenge for Wright and the Bears offensive line but the coaching staff fully expects their rookie to rise up to the occasion.

"I'm excited for him," Eberflus said. "I'm excited to see him play."
