Week 7 was not kind to the Chicago Bears’ NFC North foes in the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.

The Bears had Sunday off as they await a road test against the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. However, most Bears fans are counting Sunday as win.

Aaron Rodgers and his Packers lost on the road to the Washington Commanders by the score of 23-21 as a last-second multi-lateral play fell short.

The Packers’ offense continued in its sleepwalk with Rodgers throwing for just 179 yards with two touchdowns on the day. Sunday also marked the first time the Packers went without a third-down conversion (0-6) since Week 6 of the 1999 season, per ESPN Stats and Information.

Green Bay’s offense was out-gained by a Taylor Heinicke led Commanders to the tune of a 364-231 yardage margin. The Packers’ ground game struggled mightily as running backs A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones combined for just 38 yards on 12 carries.

Keep in mind that Washington’s run defense ranks 24th in the NFL, allowing 131 rush yards per game.

The Detroit Lions had their own case of the Sunday scaries by getting pummeled by the Dallas Cowboys by the score of 24-6. The Lions had nothing to show for after spending last week on bye.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott made his return after missing four games while recovering from thumb surgery. Coming off of an injury typically takes time for quarterbacks to adjust to the speed of the game.

While that is true in most cases, the Lions haven’t instilled fear in the eyes of an opponent since the Bush administration. George H. W. Bush that is.

As if Sunday’s result wasn’t bad enough, Detroit’s star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown left the game after suffering a concussion.

The Minnesota Vikings dodged disaster and watched the rest of the division crumble during their bye week. They were able to stretch their division lead to 2.5 games by sitting on the couch.

The Bears (2-4) have a chance to pull even with Green Bay (3-4) in the NFC North with a win tomorrow night. Though the Packers currently hold the head-to-head tiebreak, Chicago could settle the score in a Week 13 matchup with their most-hated rival.
