The Chicago Bears have been making a lot of dreams come true lately, but the process is still taking some time.

Bears' fans have been eager to find a franchise quarterback. The Bears found one in Caleb Williams. Bears' fans were upset with the coaching staff and constantly looking for a new head coach. The Bears hired the league's top candidate in Ben Johnson, and paid big money to do so.

Now, the next dream the fanbase as been harping on is properly overhauling the offensive line, an issue that has plagued the team for years.

To do so, the Bears are going to have to actually invest significant resources into the position group, not just by making band-aid additions like the front office made last offseason that clearly didn't work out.

This offseason, the Bears seem like they will be committed to doing just that and have all the required assets to make it happen, and we could see the front office spend big to help rebuild the offensive line.

One player in particular has been generating a lot of buzz with the Bears, and that's right guard Trey Smith, if the Kansas City Chiefs decide to let him walk.

The Chiefs would ideally like to bring Smith back on the offensive line but all signs point toward Smith hitting the market, mainly because of his expected price tag and the other players the Chiefs would prefer to prioritize.

In regards to that price tag, many expect Smith to land a top of the market contract this offseason and potentially even reset the entire market itself for an offensive guard. That's something one ESPN expert believes will happen, and he believes the Bears will be the ones to break the bank.

"Smith figures to be one of the most coveted free agents and could cash in on the richest guard contract ever," Field Yates said. "A deal in Chicago would help protect Caleb Williams in the Ben Johnson-led offensive scheme."

According to Spotrac, Smith is projected to land a 4 year, $78.8 million contract, putting his annual average just under $20 million. That would put him right up there with the highest paid guards and a bidding war on the open market will only increase that number and push him toward the top.

The Bears might be concerned about giving Smith that kind of money after watching the Nate Davis situation unfold, but Smith has plenty of positive reviews from people inside the building and around the league to give the front office confidence in going all out to land a player of his talent. They need to make this happen.
