Former USC quarterback Caleb Williams has been one of the most polarizing prospects ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft — but that has nothing to do with his on-the-field performance.
Williams' fashion sense and way of conducting himself has drawn a "prima donna" label on him from some, while others see it as a form of swagger.
Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley is among the latest to take to social media to comment on Williams after the signal-caller was recently spotted at an NCAA basketball game with painted nails and a pink cell phone case.
“I cant with these dudes. Lol,” Beasley wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
He was called out by several people for his post on X that he had an issue with a “world that is trying to make it ok for a boy to just be a girl all the sudden.”
“Handing out awards for courage for pretending to be something you’re not,” Beasley wrote in response. “I’m trying to raise kids in a world that is getting more confusing every day. Do what you want but stop promoting the s–t like it’s admirable.
This is not the first time Beasley has made disdainful comments about Williams in a way that has been met with controversy on multiple occasions.
“What’s up with all these dudes painting their nails nowadays?” Beasley wrote on X back in January. “That ain’t it….”
There's a much more deep meaning that meets the eye behind why Williams paints his nails. He's explained in the past that he does it to honor his mother, who worked in a nail salon.
“It started, I would say, three years ago,” Williams said in an interview. “It was my last year of high school. My mom does nails. Let’s just start it off there. She’s done it my whole life. It’s just kind of always been around me. Nobody else does it. I just kinda like to do new things.”
Regardless of what Beasley has had to say, as he himself awaits what team he'll end up next, there's hardly any question that Williams will be sitting pretty as the No. 1 overall pick when the Chicago Bears hit the clock on April 25.
