The Chicago Bears’ journey through six games this season has been filled with ups and downs, but mostly trials and tribulations.
The Bears are a couple of plays away from a 4-2 record, but late-game blunders against the New York Giants and Washington Commanders proved to be costly.
The good news for Chicago is that this team is young and has plenty of room to grow in head coach Matt Eberflus’ first year at the helm. The bad news is the Bears’ schedule ramps up a notch from here on out.
Chicago has the luxury of a third-place schedule after last year’s finish in the NFC North. With that came the NFL’s fifth-easiest schedule through six games, per Football Outsiders. Unfortunately, Chicago is slated to play the league’s second most difficult schedule to close out the campaign.
Chicago embarks on a two-game road set, which kicks of on Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots. They'll travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys in Week8.
There is also a three-game gauntlet that falls toward the end of the season:
Week 14: vs Packers
Week 15: vs Eagles
Week 16: at Bills
Yikes.
While the team’s record might not look pretty at the end of the season, QB Justin Fields and some of the Bears’ talented youngsters have an opportunity to grow against some of the game’s most talented teams.
For Bears fans that have already given up on this year, the 11-game gauntlet could serve as the perfect opportunity to improve draft position. Maybe that’s where one can find the light at the end of the tunnel.
