It's clear head coach Ben Johnson is still looking to make one more addition to the wide receiver position at some point during the 2025 NFL Draft.
This offseason, the Bears added Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Duvernay to the room joining DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, but both players were signed to one-year deals.
Which is why the Bears continue to do extensive research on various WR prospects throughout the entire draft, and the latest name joining the Top-30 visit list has become quite the fast riser on many teams' draft boards.
According to NFL Media's Mike Garafolo, the Bears are expected to meet with Washington State wide receiver Kyle Williams this week, a prospect who's received heavy Top-30 visit interest from multiple different teams around the league.
As Garafolo added, Williams' productive 2024 season paired with high interest bodes well for his chances of being selected early on Day 2, likely high in the second-round.
The Bears already met with this guy once at the NFL Scouting Combine a few weeks ago and will be doing some more work on exploring him as a possibility and fit in head coach Ben Johnson's offense.
On the field, what solidifies Kyle Williams as a top WR prospect is his separation, yards after catch, and ability to attack defenses vertically. In 2024, Williams' 590 yards after catch ranked 4th among all FBS WRs, which aligns with what Johnson wants out of his WRs. Not only that, he also forced 21 missed tackles in 2024.
"We're going to really emphasize the run after catch, the blocking after catch, of our passing game to gain some hidden yardage that way," Johnson explained.
Being able to create and make people miss after the catch certainly helps an offense gain those hidden yards.
Williams even has some inside/outside versatility, which would make him an exciting player for Johnson to scheme up in his offense alongside Moore and Odunze.
The only problem is the steep competition keeping their eye on drafting his guy as well. Good news is, the Bears hold the 39th and 41st overall picks in the second-round, one of which could be used to add Williams early on Day 2 if the team decides to go in that direction.
