The Chicago Bears are getting set to have a wide open draft board after filling the majority of the needs on the roster.

Right now, the Bears really don't have one glaring need on the starting depth chart. The front office will have the luxury to draft their highest graded player at any position to add high quality depth to the roster starting with the 10th overall pick.

In the first-round, the most common prospect linked to the Bears has been Ashton Jeanty, although top offensive linemen and defensive linemen are occasionally linked to the team in various mocks.

But, those three positions don't necessarily have to be the target position with that pick, and a latest A to Z Sports mock draft had the Bears going in a completely new direction in the first-round while still filling a position of need.

According to A to Z Sports' Destin Adams, safety Nick Emmanwori from South Carolina could be an exciting long-term option with the 10th overall pick.

"The Bears have been active this offseason to fill needs, but their secondary would greatly benefit from finding a game-changer at safety. Nick Emmanwori models his game after Derwin James, and his elite size and athleticism allow him to do things most guys can only dream of. Kevin Byard isn't getting any younger, and the team is approaching decision time on Jaquan Brisker's future. Give Dennis Allen a player with Emmanwori's skill set and watch him work his magic." – Destin Adams

After absolutely stealing the show at the 2025 Scouting Combine, Emmanwori seems like a lock to hear his name called on opening night, the question becomes how high he actually flies off the board.

Going 10 to the Bears seems a little rich, but as Adams explained, safety is a legitimate position of need long-term for Chicago. Kevin Byard isn't getting any younger and is only under contract for one more season. As for Jaquan Brisker, he has one year remaining on his rookie deal and is coming off his third concussion in as many seasons. Therefore, it's easy to see why the team is keeping tabs on top safeties.

Finding a top prospect to add to the room would give new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen an exciting player to work with on the backend of his defense.

Ultimately, it all depends on the grades the front office has on the prospects. If guys like Jeanty, Will Campbell, and Mason Graham are off the table and Emmanwori has the highest grade on the team's board, don't rule anything out.
