Pro Football Focus is one of the best football-related websites around. But for some reason, they've been subtly throwing some shade at Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields recently.
And it's absolutely not fair.
PFF has been touting that former Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson, who signed with the Los Angeles Rams last week, will have his best quarterback since high school in LA.
Robinson's quarterback in his senior year of high school was Michael Koenigknecht. Good luck finding any of his NFL stats (hint: they don't exist).
In his junior season, his quarterback was Rob Bolden, who went undrafted in 2015 (and spent time at Penn State, LSU, and Eastern Michigan).
Fields has accomplished more than either of those players at the high school level, college level, and NFL level.
Yet PFF wants to say Matthew Stafford is the first real quarterback Robinson's had since high school? That's completely absurd.
Robinson didn't fare well in Chicago this past season because former Bears head coach Matt Nagy was a complete disaster who had no idea how to manage quarterbacks. It had nothing to do with Fields' talent (which is elite, by the way).
I get that Robinson's value is going to go up a bit in Los Angeles thanks to playing on a Super Bowl-winning team. But acting like he was in a dreadful situation with Fields is ridiculous.
PFF rarely misses. But they missed big time on this one.
