The initial waves of free agency have come and gone at this point.
With almost exactly one month until the 2023 NFL Draft, football is getting closer and closer.
On Friday, the Bears announced that the first day of their offseason workout program will be April 17.
Organized team activities (OTAs) run May 22-23, May 25, May 30-June 1, June 5-8, and mandatory minicamp is June 13-15.
OTAs and minicamp are non-padded practices. Some OTAs and all of minicamp will be open to the media. OTAs and the offseason workout program are voluntary whereas minicamp is mandatory.
Some teams, like the Denver Broncos, also run a voluntary minicamp. While OTAs are not mandatory, the majority of the roster is expected to be there. Sometimes veterans are excused from OTAs depending on experience and performance.
While the OTAs are non-padded practices, they are useful for getting players accustomed to their new teams.
