There are mixed signals lately when it comes to defensive end Robert Quinn and his desire to stay with the Chicago Bears.

Quinn, who turned 32 this week, is coming off an impressive season that saw him total 18.5 sacks and 49 tackles. With the Bears in the middle of a rebuild, it's easy to see how Quinn could be on the trade block.

Chicago isn't expected to contend in 2022, which is why would it would make sense to trade the veteran pass rusher while his value is at its peak.

Quinn, however, said last month that he'd prefer to stay with the Bears.

"The only thing I thought of was hopefully my résumé or my production from last year gives me a little weight to keep my foot in the building," said Quinn in late April (via ESPN). "At the end of the day, it's a business. Again, you see Khalil Mack getting traded. Again, it's just a business. Don't dwell on it, too crazy."

CBS Sports insider Jason La Canfora, however, reported this week that he's hearing Quinn wants out of Chicago. The reasoning is simple — Quinn wants to compete for a championship (according to La Canfora).

La Canfora predicted this week that Chicago will end up trading Quinn before the end of the season. And he thinks the Bears will get more for Quinn than the Denver Broncos got for Von Miller last year (the Denver Broncos received a second and third round pick from the Los Angeles Rams for Miller last season).

From CBS Sports:

I continue to hear that Quinn wants out of Chicago – and who could blame him? – and there are a host of interested teams. Bears brass has told everyone he ain't going anywhere, but they will keep asking and that's not lost on the veteran defensive end. The Bears look hapless, they dealt fellow veteran pass rusher Khalil Mack already, and Akiem Hicks doesn't seem likely at all to be back. Team is in transition under new management, Quinn is coming off a monster season with 18.5 sacks. He just turned 32 and wants to win, and he is also an absolute steal this season ($13M); if he gets dealt the next team would likely sweeten the pot with incentives if nothing else. If the Bears are as bad as I expect, this will only fester, and he could be the prize of the trade-deadline market if nothing else (fetching more than Von Miller a year ago I believe).

I tend to think La Canfora will be correct, just based on what we've seen the Bears do so far this offseason. New general manager Ryan Poles has pretty much gutted the team while building future financial flexibility and adding draft capital.

Quinn is a major asset that should fetch a decent return. Considering his age, it seems extremely likely that Chicago will capitalize on his current high value and move the dominant defensive end at some point before the end of the season.
