Justin Fields can do what no Bears player has done before

Justin Fields made tremendous strides in 2022 and cemented himself as the starter in Chicago.

The young QB finished the season with 17 passing and eight rushing touchdowns. Fields accumulated 2,242 passing yards and 1,143 rushing yards and finished with an 85.2 quarterback rating. Keep in mind, this was with possibly the least-talented receiver room in the league and a sub-par offensive line.

In 2023, with an improved supporting cast, Fields could potentially accomplish something that no Bears' QB ever has.

Former NFL tight end and Chicago native Clay Harbor recently pondered if Fields could become the first Bears' QB to throw for 30 TD passes in a season. Harbor shared a graphic that showed the Bears as the only NFL team to not have a QB accomplish this feat.

In 2022, Fields accounted for 25 total TDs. With a much-improved passing attack, it's not hard to see the Bears place more emphasis on throwing the ball in 2023. A full season of Chase Claypool plus the additions of DJ Moore, rookie Tyler Scott, and Robert Tonyan should give Fields plenty of opportunities for TD passes.

Jay Cutler came close to hitting the mark a few times, especially in 2014 when the QB had 28 TDs and 3,812 passing yards. Mitch Trubisky's career-best was 24 in 2018. It has not been an impressive stretch for QBs in the Windy City, but there seems to finally be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Do you think Justin Fields can break this mark and make Chicago history?
