The Chicago Bears have been extremely busy over the past several days getting the roster ready for Week 1.

However, if you thought the team was done after yesterday's cuts, you'd be wrong.

As is typical, the Bears scoured the waiver wire after the deadline to see if any players were worth a claim. They found a couple of players that were deemed worthy. Unfortunately, that means that two players who thought they made the team will now be looking for work elsewhere.

Per Brad Biggs, the Bears were awarded S Quindell Johnson and DE Khalid Kareem on waivers from the Rams and Colts respectively.

Johnson is an interesting use of a waiver claim. The safety went undrafted out of Memphis this offseason and was picked up by the Rams. Johnson flashed in the preseason finale, collecting eight tackles, one sack, and a pass breakup.

The versatile DB has experience in the slot or in the box as a safety. Johnson should provide much-needed depth behind both Jaquan Brisker and Eddie Jackson.

Kareem was a fifth-round selection by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 Draft. Kareem spent parts of three seasons with the Bengals before latching with the Colts in 2022. Through three seasons, Kareem has collected 28 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble.

In addition to Kareem and Johnson, the Bears signed receiver/return specialist Trent Taylor. Taylor was waived by the Bengals and will give the Bears another option in case Velus Jones Jr. struggles.

This means that the Bears needed to create a few roster spots for these guys. DE Terrell Lewis and S AJ Thomas have since been waived.

The Bears will have to free up one more roster spot to accommodate the new players. It's reasonable to assume that Lewis and Thomas could end up on the practice squad if they clear waivers.
