We are now in the second week of preseason action, meaning we're that much closer to the regular season.
The Bears have been holding joint practices with the Colts all week, so these teams have become familiar with each other. Due to this familiarity, it's unlikely that all starters see the field. Here's how to watch:
Chicago Bears (1-0) vs Indianapolis Colts (0-1)

Betting odds: Colts -5, Over/Under 37.5
How to watch on TV: Chicago Bears Network on FOX 32; Local network affiliates; NFL network
Streaming: FuboTV, YouTube TV, Network apps, etc.
Radio: ESPN 1000 (AM 1000, 100.3 FM HD2), LATINO MIX 93.5 FM (Spanish), SiriusXM (Channels 380 & 805)
Will the Bears play the starters?
Matt Eberflus has already said that Justin Fields will not play on Saturday. The coach also said that certain other starters won't play either due to the "invaluable" experience they received at joint practice this week.
I would expect the younger starters to see some reps, but veterans like Yannick Ngakoue, Eddie Jackson, and DJ Moore probably won't be out there.
Who will take the lead in the running back race?
I believe we will see all of the RBs get snaps against the Colts. The race is neck-and-neck, with Khalil Herbert seen as the slight front-runner. I expect to see a large dose of Roschon Johnson, Travis Homer, and Trestan Ebner to see if any of them can take over.
It will be interesting to see if anyone can have a big game and close in on Herbert.
There's another battle at the bottom of the RB depth chart. Can Ebner earn a roster spot over the veteran Homer? There's likely only room for one.
3 Players to watch
- DE Terrell Lewis: Lewis had a fantastic preseason debut against the Titans last week. The edge defender collected two tackles, one tackle for loss, and two sacks. Seeing a Bears' defender collect multiple sacks in a game is a rare and encouraging sight after last season. Will Lewis build on that performance and hold off the pack?
- QB Tyson Bagent: I am very excited to see if Bagent can build off of a strong performance last week. The rookie completed 4/5 passes for 37 yards against the Titans. With Fields not playing, there should be even more snaps available to the rookie. It's not impossible that Bagent leaps Peterman and earns a roster spot.
- DT Zacch Pickens: Pickens collected two tackles and a sack against the Titans. The rookie outperformed veteran Andrew Billings, who played 12 snaps and didn't record a statistic. Can Pickens show enough to unseat the veteran for a starting role? I wouldn't be surprised if Pickens ends up starting at some point this season.
