Over the last three years, the NFL Players Association releases a survey for players to reveal how they feel about the franchises, leaders, and facilities around the NFL.

The latest annual report was revealed on Wednesday and it had some shocking revelations about the Chicago Bears.

Overall, the Bears ranked 14th in the league-wide report card. The team had "A" grades in locker room, weight room, and ownership but ranked last in a key area that thankfully has already been addressed.

Bears Ranked 32nd in NFLPA Head Coach Rankings

For Bears' fans, this should be seen as no surprise. In the head coach section of the report, the players gave former head coach Matt Eberflus a "C" grade, the lowest grade among all 32 head coaches in the NFL.

Eberflus' grade was actually tied for last with Jaguars' Doug Pederson and Browns' Kevin Stefanski. Eberflus and Pederson were both fired in 2024, but it was interesting to see Stefanski ranked so low and still retain his position for 2025.

Anyways, back to Eberflus. There should be no surprise to see this ranking after Eberflus became the first Chicago Bears head coach to be fired mid-season.

Eberflus quickly lost the locker room as the losses continued to stack up in 2024 but it turns out things were even worse than we thought inside the locker room.

The Bears had a strong group of leaders in the locker room, and that group was directly responsible in voicing their concerns that eventually led to the coaching change. And here's what those leaders and other players had to say on the survey about their former head coach:

"The players’ most frequent complaint was with their former head coach Matt Eberflus. The players felt like he lacked a willingness to listen to the players and the players’ leadership council, and he mismanaged the weekly team schedule."

This response from the players regarding their former head coach was quite jarring. It always seemed like Eberflus took pride in listening to the needs of his players and always discussed with reporters every week working with his leadership council in the locker room, turns out that wasn't the case at all.

As for the 2025 outlook, the Bears have already remedied that major issue in a big way by bringing in a respected head coach in Ben Johnson, who quickly built an incredible staff to help repair the culture of this team.

Johnson and his staff have already been preaching accountability and healthy communication with their players and the team leaders. We'll see how this new relationship blossoms and what kind of change it brings to the entire organization.
