In the Bill Belichick era, the New England Patriots have been known to play their cards close to their vest. However, the team might have tipped its hand in a subtle announcement on Tuesday.

During the week, it’s typically the starters that typically speak to the media ahead of a game. Interestingly enough, the Patriots’ rookie sensation Bailey Zappe is scheduled to meet with the media on Wednesday.

Zappe has commanded New England’s offense to two straight wins since taken over for Mac Jones. Jones was forced to the sideline with an ankle injury in the team’s Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

It’s difficult to take Zappe off the field, even if Jones is healthy enough to play against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.

Zappe is the only rookie quarterback in NFL history to win and post a 100+ passer rating in each of his first two starts. He’s also been the most effective quarterback in the league with passes thrown at least 15 yards in the air.

While Belichick and the Patriots have plenty of time to make a decision, it’s beginning appear as if the Bears should plan on Zappe getting the nod on Monday night.
