Chicago Bears Justin Fields trade draft plans NFL football stats news

One piece to the Chicago Bears’ draft puzzle appears to have come together after the latest report.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler joined SportsCenter on Sunday that he has spoken to teams around the league that expect the Bears to keep Justin Fields heading into 2023.

"Now, Justin Fields, different scenario because the Bears have the No. 1 pick and most teams I've talked to do expect the Bears to keep Justin Fields," Fowler said. "They say, look, this is a player who kept them in games they had no business staying in last year. But, if they have a high ranking on Bryce Young or one of these quarterbacks, they could certainly look into it. The expectation is that they'd move out of that No. 1 pick, but we'll see."

With the draft still two months away, this part of the NFL offseason involves plenty of smoke and mirrors. Rumors that appear out nowhere can get picked up on social media and chaos ensues.

However the Bears haven’t given fans any reason to believe that Fields could be on the block. That being said, general manager Ryan Poles wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t at least pick up the phone and listen just in case the right offer comes unexpectedly.

The most likely scenario still involves the Bears sticking with Fields. While trading Fields is unlikely, trading back to acquire more draft capital while landing its preferred talent, probably a defender, just a few picks later remains a strong possibility.
