The Chicago Bears have a lot to figure out in 2022.

To simply things, it's fair to say that figuring out the offense and defense are at the top of the list, priorty-wise. Both sides of the ball will see big changes in regard to system, scheme, and personnel in 2022.

Such changes often follow a rebuild, which is what the Bears are going through under Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus. Everything is being torn down and rebuilt and every component will be evaluated throughout the process.

A rebuild like this takes time and the NFL world doesn't offer a lot of that, unfortunately. Therefore, it's imperative the Bears use every minute as efficiently as possible.

Based off what Justin Fields said Tuesday, it sounds he and Luke Getsy are doing just that.

Fields was asked if he's noticed any differences watching his play now as opposed to when he initially watched it during the 2021 season. Fields' response was not only quick, but it was logical and shows that he is focusing on the things that matter.

"We haven't really watched too much tape on last season," Fields told reporters. "We've just been trying to install this new offense and trying to get going on these new concepts."

Why would Fields and Getsy want to spend too much time on tape from 2021? There's not much to see from 2021 that will help in 2022.

There are a few reasons why: 2021 was obviously a different coaching staff and a different offense. It was also Fields' rookie year. He's not a 12-year veteran who has found his groove or has been in the same offense for years. He's a developing player, still, and he only has one year of experience in one system.

The Bears can create a whole new environment for Fields and it won't set him back.

Getsy and Fields have a whole new offense to run in 2022. They need to concentrate on that as much as possible. Yes, there are things to improve from 2021 that can help in 2022, but right now, in this moment, it's about setting a foundation and getting on the same page.

It makes more sense for the staff to evaluate Fields in this system and then work on his craft instead of fixing the craft based off another system and then go from there. It's essentially taking a step back only to take a step forward in the end.

And Fields knows that a challenge lies ahead. But based off what he said Tuesday, it sounds like he knows exactly how to handle it.

"It would be easier if it were the same offense as last year and we were just able to grow in that," Fields said. "It kind of just resets with learning this new offense. I think that's going to be the most challenging part, is learning this new offense and making sure we all get it down to a fine detail."

Fields and the Bears are approaching the challenge of implementing this offense in the right way. Hopefully that leads to big results in 2022.
