The biggest complaint of the Chicago Bears' 2025 Draft Class is not coming out of the weekend with one of the top impact running backs in the class.
The Bears did come out of the draft with one addition to the backfield in seventh-round pick Kyle Monangai, who is a strong fit for what Ben Johnson is looking for out of that position.
But, everyone got their hopes up on the dream of landing one of the top guys, though. Ashton Jeanty was the main one who got away after the Las Vegas Raiders selected him with the 6th overall pick in the first-round.
As it stands, the Bears are slated to enter the season with D'Andre Swift, Monangai, Roschon Johnson, Travis Homer, and Ian Wheeler at the position. For year 1 of the Ben Johnson Era, that's a capable backfield.
After the 2025 season, it could be a different story when Johnson heads into the final year of his contract and Swift becomes a disposable asset. Which is why in a new way-too-early 2026 mock draft, the A to Z Sports Film Room team had the Bears rectifying that 2025 mistake by landing the top running back in the class.
A to Z Sports Film Room 2026 Mock Draft has Bears selecting RB Jeremiyah Love
For starters, the mock simulation that was used had the Bears drafting with the 16th overall pick, which points to the team finding some improvement record-wise in 2025. And with that selection, the crew had the Bears selecting Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.
"That man is one of the most entertaining running back prospects I have ever watched," Joe DeLeone said. "He's not Ashton Jeanty good, but he is Jahmyr Gibbs level of dynamic.
"Who knows how could he can be though," Ryan Roberts added. "Athletically, he is a freak show. So, if he takes a big jump then maybe he can be Ashton Jeanty good."
We still have another year to see what Love's stock will look like heading into the 2026 Draft but he seems like an easy lock to fall within the Top-32 selections. And with a stronger overall class, the top running back might not go as high as Jeanty did this past weekend, which bodes well for Chicago's chances of landing a guy like Love.
Last season, Love rushed for 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has the burning speed and dual-threat ability out of the backfield as a receiver that would remind Ben Johnson of Gibbs but he'll even be a little bit bigger of a prospect coming out.
Another strong jump in his third season can easily put him into the conversation of being a Top-20 selection next spring and someone the Bears should follow closely.
