Even after signing Hollywood Brown in free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs still need another wide receiver. With Rashee Rice's situation and his probable suspension unclear, the Chiefs will be without their best guy for some time. So, drafting a wide receiver next week is not a bad idea.

However, the fan base is pretty split on where they should draft one. Should it be on day one of the first round? Or should they do it on day two? The wide receiver class is so deep that they can draft one on whichever day they want and still get a decent player.

If they decide to do it on day two, which would mean they likely went with an offensive tackle in round one, then there are some really good options that fit their team. One in particular is a guy that Pro Football Focus mentioned as a perfect fit in Kansas City – South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette.

Legette is the 38th overall prospect and the ninth overall wide receiver on our big board. Here are some of his strengths and weaknesses:

STRENGTHS

  • Size/speed combination to thrive on the outside
  • High-points the ball & makes acrobatic catches in traffic
  • Sinks his hips & cuts off stop routes efficiently
  • Violently explodes out of horizontal breaks
  • Uses rocker steps to set up flat-footed CBs
  • Has the play strength to fight through physical man coverage
  • Field-stretching speed to win vertically or pull away after the catch

WEAKNESSES

  • 5th-year Senior never had more than 167 yards in a season until 2023
  • Average balance & shake to make defenders miss after the catch
  • Should be a much better run blocker for his size
  • Inconsistent physicality at the catch point
  • Limited release package & clunky movements at the LOS
  • Needs to tighten up his route running & restrain his freestyle approach
  • Lacks coordination at the top of the route

Legette reminds some of Sammy Watkins, a guy who, when he was healthy in Kansas City, was very, very good at his role. When you see the type of potential that Legette has, and you pair that with a QB like Mahomes, the offense will be unstoppable when everyone is playing.
