On Wednesday, Kansas City Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes had to venture into the political sphere.

As he preps to face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season, Mahomes and his family were roped into the 2024 Presidential Election. Speaking on Fox News following the presidential debate, former president Donald Trump reacted to Chiefs TE Travis Kelce's girlfriend Taylor Swift's endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election. In doing so, he evoked Brittany Mahomes.

“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better if you want to know the truth,” Trump said. “She’s a big Trump fan. I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great.”

This isn't the first time the former president has referred to Mahomes and his family. Brittany found herself in the news in mid-August after it was found that she liked an Instagram post outlining the 2024 GOP platform. The former president responded with a post on his social media platform.

I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country. With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless “leaders,” it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM. What a great couple – See you both at the Super Bowl!

Asked about Trump referencing his family, Patrick sought to set the record straight about their politics and where they stand.

"Yeah, I think I've always said I don't want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever either way," Patrick said. "I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote, is to inform people to do their own research and then make their best decision for them and their family. And so I think every time I'm on this stage and I get asked these questions, I'm going to refer back to that because I think that's what makes America so great."

Self-proclaimed news outlets speculated that the Instagram post news had caused a rift between Swift and Mahomes. That was quickly debunked when the Kelce, Swift, and the Mahomes family were seen enjoying the US Open together over the weekend.

"I've grown up with people from every aspect of life and every background," Patrick told reporters. "I think the best thing about a football locker room, and kind of how I've grown up in baseball lockers, everything about that is people can come together and achieve something and achieve a common goal. And I think if we can, I mean, we talked about it a while back, I think if we can do that as a nation, I think we can get the best out of each other. And so I think that's something that I do every single day, and whenever I'm hanging out with whoever, I'm not thinking about their political views. I'm thinking about the people and how they treat other people."

Asked whether former President Trump bringing up Brittany's name affects him, Patrick insisted that it has no bearing one way or the other.

"No, I mean, I think at the end of the day, it's about me and my family and how we treat other people," Patrick said. "And I think you see is that Brittany (Mahomes) does a lot in the community. I do a lot of in the community to help bring people up and give people other opportunities to use their voice. And so it's in the political times, people are going to use stuff here and there. But I can't let that affect how I go about my business every single day and live my life and try to live it to the best of my ability."

Mahomes was nominated for the 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year award because of his work in the community. He was named NFLPA Community MVP in Week 9 of the 2020 NFL season after his work to turn Arrowhead Stadium into a polling place on Election Day.
