The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to sign former first-round draft selection OJ Howard on Wednesday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday morning that Cincinnati is hosting the veteran tight end on a visit. If all goes well, he's expected to sign with the Bengals.

Howard was released by the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.

Howard was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 19 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The former Alabama standout was viewed as "raw" coming out of college, but he was oozing with potential.

Unfortunately, we've yet to see Howard reach his full potential in the NFL.

Howard has never caught more than 34 passes in a season. His best year came in 2018 when he caught 34 passes for 565 yards and five touchdowns.

Last season in Tampa, Howard caught just 14 passes for 135 yards and one touchdown while playing all 17 games.

Maybe a change of scenery will jump-start his career (though that wasn't the case for Howard in Buffalo this summer). Howard is still just 27 years old, so it's not out of the question that things could finally "click" for him in Cincinnati.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow seems to make everyone around him better, so it'll be interesting to see if Howard improves while playing in the AFC North.
