The 2023 NFL Draft is well behind us now, and most NFL teams have finalized their class of undrafted free agents. The Cincinnati Bengals can say the same as they've put pen to paper on 13 college free agent contracts Friday afternoon.

This year, the team had room for 15 players after the conclusion of the draft, and along with the addition of veteran backup quarterback Trevor Siemiam, the team now has but one roster available. 13 ended up getting signed.

We have much to learn about these 13 success stories who are now on the cusp of making an active NFL roster. Let's meet them all.

Cincinnati Bengals 2023 Undrafted free agents

  • S Larry Brooks, Tulane
  • WR Malachi Carter, Georgia Tech
  • LB Shaka Heyward, Duke
  • WR Mac Hippenhammer, Miami (Ohio)
  • WR Shedrick Jackson, Auburn
  • G Jaxson Kirkland, Washington
  • DT Devonnsha Maxwell, Tennessee-Chattanooga
  • LB Jaylen Moody, Alabama
  • LB Tyler Murray, Memphis
  • DT Tautala Pesefea, Arizona State
  • HB Jacob Saylors, East Tennessee State
  • TE Christian Trahan, Houston
  • HB Calvin Tyler Jr, Utah State

Brooks played both safety spots for Tulane during his five years at the program, but was primarily a free safety. He ended up with nine career interceptions for the Green Wave.

Carter signed with the team following a tryout after Friday's rookie minicamp. He set school record for most games played with 58, finishing his career with 1,417 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Heyward, a fifth-year senior as well, was the No. 22 linebacker on Brugler's board. He was a team captain in 2022 and ran a 4.53 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine after measuring in at 6'3" and 235 pounds. He's also the cousin of Steelers' All-Pro and Bengals rival, Cam Heyward of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hippenhammer has one of the coolest last names I've ever heard, but more importantly was originally at Penn State before playing the final three years of his collegiate career an hour north of Cincinnati at Miami University. He racked up 1,578 yards and 14 touchdowns during his final two years for the Redhawks.

Jackson is indeed the nephew of one Bo Jackson, so you know the bloodlines are insane. His most productive year came in 2021, posting 527 yards and his lone career touchdown with the Tigers.

Kirkland was the No. 19 guard prospect according to The Athletic's Dane Brugler. A sixth-year senior out of Washington, he started 49 games at four different positions for the Huskies, with the majority of them at right guard. Pro Football Focus charted him allowing zero pressures in 2022.

Maxwell was a two-time All-American pass rusher at the defensive tackle spot for Chattanooga. He accumulated an absurd 55.5 career tackles for loss and 37.5 sacks in his five years of playing. He also repped 30 on the bench press during the pre-draft process.

Moody is an experienced player out of Alabama, he appeared in 65 career games for the Crimson Tide, and logged over 800 snaps on special teams. He also played through multiple injuries last year, including a torn labrum.

Murray spent the first four years of his college career at Troy and Charlotte before finishing at Memphis. He logged 13 career starts, 67 tackles, six tackles for loss, two interceptions, three quarterback hurries and two pass breakups for the Tigers in 2022.

Pesefea was also a successful tryout player from after minicamp. He played 40 games at Arizona State while former Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis was on staff, and was originally a JuCo transfer. He led the Sun Devils with five tackles for loss in 2022.

Saylors is another another productive college running back. He rushed for 1,318 yards and 15 touchdowns last year for Eastern Tennessee State, forcing 67 missed tackles in the process. The Bengals gave him a $10,000 signing bonus, which is notable.

Trahan is the first tight end the Bengals have added in any capacity since re-signing Drew Sample two weeks prior to the draft. He played Houston, where Bengals TE coach James' Casey coached prior to being hired by Cincinnati in 2019. He had four years of consistent production for the Cougars, topping out at 398 yards in 2021.

Tyler was one of the shortest players in the draft at 5'7 5/8" and is pretty dense for his height at 205 pounds. He ended up with the Aggies after three years at Oregon State and immediately produced. He rushed for 2,018 yards and 14 touchdowns over the last two seasons.
