Pre-draft visits are happening pretty much every day now for the Cincinnati Bengals, and many of them feature the most recent champions of Division I college football.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Cincinnati is hosting Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson for a visit this week.

Henderson is one of the more well-known Buckeyes entering the NFL this year. The former top-ranked running back from the 2021 recruiting class ran the ball 590 times for 3,761 yards and 42 touchdowns in 47 career games for Ohio State. He would've had a great chance of eclipsing 4,000 career yards had he not suffered injuries during his sophomore season in 2022.

Before his fourth and final year in Columbus, Henderson's teammates named him a team captain and he crossed 1,000 yards for the second time in his collegiate career while sharing touches with transfer Quinshon Judkins.

The Bengals are also meeting with Judkins before the draft, and they're not the only Buckeyes swinging by Paycor Stadium. It's a trend that's become extremely noticeable, and there's an easy answer as to why Cincinnati is meeting with Ohio State stars.

Bengals using local visits for Ohio State draft prospects

The Bengals only get a limited number of "Top 30" visits per year, so choosing which players to bring in prior to the draft is a meticulous process. Fortunately, NFL clubs can conduct the same kind of pre-draft visit with players from certain nearby schools and classify them as "local visits."

Ohio State is one of the programs that Cincinnati can use for this classification, and the club is taking full advantage.

Henderson, Judkins, defensive end Jack Sawyer, and defensive tackle Ty Hamilton are all Buckeyes the Bengals have are will have hosted for local visits leading up to the draft. All four play positions the Bengals could very well draft as well, so interest in any of them is pretty much certain.

By bringing in a plethora of former Buckeyes, the Bengals are getting closer looks at notable prospects from the defending champions without having to limit the number of Top 30 visits they distribute elsewhere. A smart move to say the least.

When focusing solely on Henderson, he'd make a lot of sense for the Bengals to draft. A former five-star recruit who produced for a major program and became a team captain and leader checks a ton of boxes. The A to Z Sports Mock Draft Database has him ranked No. 56 in this year's class, so the Bengals would likely have to select him with their second-round pick.

In case he's best player available, the Bengals will know more about him if they want to solidify their running back room with a high-character runner.
