An abysmal first half performance from the Cincinnati Bengals has now put them in ugly company.

By not scoring a touchdown in the first 30 minutes against the Tennessee Titans, the Bengals are the first team since the 2019 New York Jets to not score a first half touchdown.

For reference, the Jets only scored three touchdowns during the first four weeks of that 2019 season, the same number of touchdowns the Bengals had entering this week.

The Bengals came very close in Tennessee. Their opening drive took them all the way down to the Titans' three-yard line, but they settled for a field goal. The Titans ended up forcing punts on the Bengals' ensuing four drives, and scored 24 unanswered points to create a 21-point halftime lead.

It's a bleak reality the Bengals are now facing. They're all but confirmed to go down to 1-3 on the season, and quarterback Joe Burrow still is not playing up to his usual standard. Burrow has been hit several times by the Titans' defensive front, and playing with a lead will only lead to more pass-rushing chances to tee off against Burrow.

We'll have to wait another week to see if Burrow and offense can find some first-half life.
