The Cincinnati Bengals are off and running on their search for a new offensive coordinator.
Per Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, Cincinnati interviewed former Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Andy Dickerson for the vacant OC gig.
Dickerson was with the Seahawks for the past three seasons. He was hired in 2021 as the team's run game coordinator and was promoted to offensive line coach in 2022.
Where Dickerson was prior to the Pacific Northwest is very notable. Dickerson spent the previous nine seasons with the St. Louis and then Los Angeles Rams, all as the team's assistant offensive line coach.
That means from 2017-18, Dickerson and Bengals head coach Zac Taylor were both offensive assistants in Los Angeles. Taylor was the Rams' assistant wide receivers coach in 2017 and quarterbacks coach in 2018.
Taylor and Dickerson's shared working history could be why the Bengals were interested in Dickerson now. Dickerson has 20 years of coaching experience after starting out as an operations intern with the New England Patriots all the way back during the early years of that dynasty.
A promotion to offensive coordinator could be in his near future. Dickerson also interviewed for the vacant Cleveland Browns OC job. He was an assistant coach for the Browns from 2009-10.
The Bengals will be interviewing more candidates for their OC position, including quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher, who's still considered the favorite to land the job when it's all said and done.
Bengals must abide by NFL rules before making expected coaching hire
