One thing the Cincinnati Bengals don't lack is weapons at the wide receiver position. Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd are considered to be the best trio in the NFL today.

Higgins will look slightly different in 2023 though.

The second-round pick in 2020 has worn the No. 85 for three seasons which was made popular in Cincinnati by former receiver Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson a decade ago. However, Higgins will wear the No. 5 next season, the same number he wore at Oak Rodge High School in Tennessee and during his college days at Clemson.

Higgins expressed back in 2021 why he wanted to switch to his old number, and the reason for doing so has to be respected.

"It's not that big of a deal, but I just feel like Chad has done so much for this organization. I just gotta good feeling that his number is gonna get lifted one day, and I just want to make a name for myself," said Higgins.

"I keep seeing on Twitter, 'Ochocinco 2.0'. I don't want to be a 2.0. No disrespect to Chad, he's a great receiver, this and that. I just don't want to be a 2.0 for myself. I want to be Tee Higgins, 1.0, No.5. Just go out there and make a name for myself for this organization."

Higgins has certainly done just that.

As a rookie, Higgins finished with 67 receptions and six touchdowns and barely missed the 1,000-yard mark with 908. Over that two seasons, Higgins has amassed 74 catches in each and gone over 1,000 yards with 13 total touchdowns.

When the Bengals made their run to the Super Bowl in 2021, the argument can be made that Higgins was the best receiver for the Bengals in the postseason. His two 100-yard games equaled that of Chase, and he was undoubtedly the best in the Super Bowl with 100 yards and two touchdowns on four receptions.

Playing with two other productive players at any position would make it tough for anyone to shine. However, Higgins is not only thriving but he's shown that he'd be a No. 1 option on a lot of other teams.

As he enters the final year of his rookie deal, Higgins gets the opportunity to up his price while wearing the number that's dearest to him.
