The Cincinnati Bengals have lost another young player to injury this season as second-year safety Tycen Anderson has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list.
Anderson, who's played in all seven games for the Bengals this season, was listed on the Week 9 injury report with a knee injury. Per AllBengals.com, he suffered a torn ACL in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Anderson was selected by the Bengals in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He missed his entire rookie season on I.R. and showed great promise in his first action back this year. He intercepted two passes in Week 1 of the preseason, and played well enough for the entire month of August to earn a 53-man roster spot over veteran Michael Thomas.
Cincinnati's defense has not needed Anderson yet during the regular season, but the former team captain for Toledo was playing phenomenal ball on special teams. Pro Football Focus graded him at 88.7 with six solo tackles.
The lone bright side to Anderson missing significant time for a second straight season is that Thomas remains with the team. He's been on the practice squad for the first eight weeks of the season in the case that a situation like this occurs. He's in line to be elevated this week, or simply signed to the active roster altogether.
