The Cincinnati Bengals have one of the better starting edge rushers in Trey Hendrickson, and a young stud to mold into greatness in Myles Murphy, but don't sleep on Sam Hubbard.
It's kind of hard to believe that he's going into Year 6, but Hubbard has racked up 30.5 sacks during his career in Cincinnati, and he was only one and a half sacks behind Hendrickson for the team lead in 2022.
The Bengals have almost been able to taste a championship in the last two seasons, and all it's done is make the fire inside of Hubbard burn even hotter.
"My main goal and only goal is to win the Super Bowl," Hubbard said, via the team's website. "This is the best I've felt in my whole career by a landslide physically."
Hubbard doesn't quite get to the quarterback with the same prowess as Hendrickson, but his run defense is extremely stout and was certainly the main catalyst for the Bengals' defense finishing seventh against the run last season.
Although Hubbard has had his best seasons in the NFL as of late, he's also battled knee and calf issues along the way. Hubbard used his time post-injury to zone in on his physical and mental health which has set the stage for the best version of himself so far in the league.
"My core discipline, my routine during the week, cold exposure, sauna, nutrition. It's a little bit better in all areas," said Hubbard. "I'm ready to put it all together."
He's the second guy in the pecking order when it comes to edge rushers in Cincinnati, but Hubbard plays like he's leading the pack and that's why he and Hendrickson have formed one of the best edge rusher duos in football since they became teammates.
