An extra day of rest is in the books for the Cincinnati Bengals, and wide receiver Tee Higgins is practicing for the first time in nearly two weeks.
"Get him into practice and see where it goes from there." Zac Taylor said of Higgins prior to Thursday's practice. "He's a top player in this league. That makes every grouping better."
Higgins missed Cincinnati's first two games of the season with a hamstring injury.
Along with Higgins, rookie defensive tackle Kris Jenkins Jr. will also practice for the first time since prior to Week 1. Jenkins had surgery on his thumb 13 days ago.
Participating in the first practice of the week puts Higgins and Jenkins on track to make their season debuts on "Monday Night Football" against the Washington Commanders. Taylor and the coaching staff will be monitoring them closely to ensure no setbacks have occurred with their respective injuries.
Defensive tackles B.J. Hill and Sheldon Rankins, both dealing with hamstring injuries, are considered "day-to-day" according to Taylor and will not practice. This makes Jenkins' potential return all the more important, as is the signing of veteran Lawrence Guy Sr.
As for Higgins, the fifth-year player underwent a pre-game warmup last Sunday before the Bengals' close loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but ultimately didn't play. Taylor mentioned that having an extra day of rest could help Higgins return to practice on time this week, and that is indeed the case.
Update: Higgins and Jenkins were each limited Thursday along with safety Vonn Bell (back), tight end Mike Gesicki (calf), and rookie offensive tackle Amarius Mims (pectoral). Hill and Rankins did not practice along with tight end Tanner Hudson (knee).
Bengals vs Commanders Thursday Injury Report

Hudson missed two practices last week but was active in Week 2. He's the team's emergency long snapper, so if he's able to do that, odds are he'll be active on game days.
