Building on last week
Cincinnati's first win of the season came in Week 3 for the second year in a row, creating a path to get back to .500 and out of last place in the AFC North. The Bengals' 19-16 victory over the Los Angeles Rams was far from perfect as their sputtering offense was bailed out numerous times from a dominant defensive performance. A better performance from Joe Burrow can make things easier, but the Titans' defensive line will be a pain to stop for four quarters.
3 Bengals players to watch
- ED Trey Hendrickson: The MVP from Week 3 will have another chance to feast this week. Hendrickson's 10 pressures and two sacks against the Rams will be on the mind of Titans left tackle Andre Dillard and quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Taking advantage of that mismatch will be critical for the Bengals' defense to put together back-to-back impressive outings while the offense continues to find itself.
- C Ted Karras: As the central rock of Cincinnati's offensive line, Karras is usually a beacon of consistency. But the veteran leader ran into some trouble last week against Aaron Donald and the Rams' defensive line. A bounce back performance against Jeffrey Simmons would go a long way in assuring the offense scores when needed. Karras and Simmons' beef from last year also can't be forgotten.
- WR Trenton Irwin: While he's listed as the fourth receiver on the depth chart, Irwin found himself as a healthy scratch last week. That won't be the case as Charlie Jones is now out with a thumb injury for the next four weeks at minimum. Irwin is the safe bet to take Jones' reps at receiver and punt returner going forward.
