When Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow popped off against the Arizona Cardinals back in Week 5, we called it right then and there: Burrow was back to his elite ways.
Little did anyone know how much of an understatement that would be.
Not only are the Bengals 4-0 since Week 5, which is what matters more than anything else combined, Burrow's production during this winning streak has put him in absurdity exclusively company.
Burrow has completed 75.8% of his passes to go with 10 touchdowns thrown in this four-game span. Only one other quarterback in NFL history has ever achieved this production in the same number of consecutive games.
It was Peyton Manning during his incredible 2013 MVP season, per OptaSTATS.
For the younger crowd, that 2013 season from Manning is legendary in so many facets. The now Hall of Famer threw for an all-time record 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns for the Denver Broncos that season, which he was 37 years old during.
Denver's aerial attack simply could not be contained for the vast majority of that year as Manning picked apart defenses with a vast array of pass-catchers such as Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, and Julius Thomas. Wes Welker was also his slot receiver!
Burrow becoming associated in any positive respect with Manning's historic 2013 season is a great accomplishment, even if it's just for a four-game stretch. It's about the highest form of validation for how surgical he's been over the past month of action.
On Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills, Burrow posted 348 yards and two touchdowns while completing 70.5% of his passes. His performance propelled the Bengals to a 5-0 record in primetime games with him as quarterback.
It's pretty hard to lose when you play like that, or like Manning at his career peak for good measure.
Bengals: Joe Burrow kept his word to Tee Higgins and the NFL should be terrified
Burrow and Higgins were locked in during the Bengals’ 24-18 win over the Bills.
