Former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan continues to build his impressive coaching staff with a move many saw coming.

Per Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, the Tennessee Titans will interview Callahan's father and Cleveland Browns offensive line coach, Bill Callahan, with the intent on hiring him.

Bill Callahan is considered one of the very best offensive line coaches in recent NFL history. He's helped develop and maximize Pro Bowl and All-Pro players such as Nick Mangold and D'Brickshaw Ferguson with the New York Jets, Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin with the Dallas Cowboys, and Brandon Scherff with the Washington Commanders.

Callahan's latest stop with the Cleveland Browns saw him elevate their offensive line as well, which has been a crucial factor in the Browns having the upper hand in matchups against the Bengals. His traditional wide zone run scheme has given the Cincinnati's defense fits over the past four years.

All of that is on the brink of changing as the Browns are allowing a father-son working relationship to form down South.

"Since the new head coach of the Titans left the Cincinnati Bengals, it was believed it would only be a matter of time before the Browns lost the offensive line guru. Cleveland has done the right thing and granted permission for their offensive line coach to interview with the Titans. While it may not be much of an interview between the father and son, it is the due process. For Bill, this is an unbelievable opportunity that folks dream about." – A to Z Sports Browns beat writer Brandon Little

The Callahan partnership could've happened years ago in Cincinnati. The Bengals were rumored to have wanted Callahan as their o-line coach, but the Commanders had him under contract at the time and blocked the lateral move.

Not only was the Callahan connection there with Brian as the OC, Bill was Zac Taylor's head coach at Nebraska when Taylor quarterbacked the team from 2005-06. Taylor made the mistake to hire Jim Turner instead in 2019 when Callahan was unavailable, and Callahan eventually became free to leave Washington a year later.

In the span of a week, the Bengals have watched Arthur Smith take over as the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive coordinator, Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald and defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson leave for promotions, and Callahan opting to join his son.

The Bengals, of course, went through turnover of their own by replacing the younger Callahan with Dan Pitcher. That succession plan was made over a year ago, while the other moves around the division were sudden realities their rivals had to face now.

It's still very early in the offseason, but the Bengals can feel good about where things are trending in the AFC North.
