The Cincinnati Bengals will be in the NFL's highlight matchup for Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs. After their overtime thriller in last season's AFC title game, this contest didn't need any gasoline added to the fire, but it happened anyway.

Chiefs' safety Justin Reid caused waves on Wednesday when he claimed was going to lock down Bengals' wide receiver Tee Higgins. Reid went on to say that the entire Bengals' receiving group would get shut down, and then All-Pro Ja'Marr Chase chimed in.

Chase proceeded to ask Reid if he wanted to major a wager on the upcoming battle. Reid didn't accept, instead, he let Chase know that it was on when the ball gets kicked off this Sunday. Chase responded with a rather disrespectful comment, pretty much dismissing his words.

It didn't stop there.

Chase was at his locker on Thursday talking to the media, and he let it be known what it was that Reid said that set him off.

"I ain't really have no comment about it until he made another comment and said that everybody else was gonna get locked down so that's when I buzzed in and decided to say something on Twitter," Chase said, via All Bengals reporter Elise Jesse.

Chase went into more detail about Reid and what he should be focusing on.

"I don't think he's watching film at all," Chase said. "I don't think he knows he's personnel on whoever he's trying to check or if he's even checking anybody. So, he needs to go back and watch the film, look at his personnel, look at what he wants to know."

Ouch, harsh words, to say the least.

One thing is for certain, the Chiefs are still having nightmares from what Chase did to them last season. Chase set a Bengals record with 266 yards and three touchdowns against the Chiefs in a regular season win, catching 11 of his 12 targets. He only managed 54 yards in the playoffs versus the Chiefs but added another score as the Bengals advanced to the Super Bowl.

Chase has missed the last four games for the Bengals due to a hip issue. That alone was a motivating factor, but Reid's comments this week have given Chase even more of an incentive to show once again why he's one of the NFL's top receivers.
