The Cincinnati Bengals have yet to announce the 2025 coaching staff, but two reports have come out regarding unofficial hirings.

It was reported by multiple national insiders Monday that Sean Desai will take a senior defensive assistant role with the team. Desai has previously worked under new defensive coordinator Al Golden in the past, and the two will reunite in Cincinnati.

Another former Golden assistant, Mike Moon, was reportedly hired during the last week of January. The report from Football Scoop's John Brice did not specify what Moon's role would be, but another recently hired Bengals coach let that be known this week.

New Bengals coach confirms Mike Moon will help coach Cincinnati's defensive line

The Bengals have already announced Jerry Montgomery as the team's new defensive line coach. Montgomery will be the team's run game coordinator for the defense as well.

In an appearance on In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, Montgomery revealed that Moon is indeed already on staff and helping him out scout potential additions to the d-line in free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft.

"I tell you what, it's definitely time consuming," Montgomery said. "But, you know, they give you deadlines on when certain things you know need to be done, so you prioritize it by that. And to be honest with you, we've got a young man by the name of Mike Moon that's been here that's been able to help with the process. He'll be helping out with the front, so it's been nice to have his help."

Montgomery has experience coaching different parts of the defensive line, but is best known for specializing with interior players. It makes sense for the staff to have someone else to help out with players closer to the edge, which is where Moon could be of use.

Desai is most likely taking the position previously held by Mark Duffner, which left a vacancy at defensive quality control that was held by Louie Cioffi. Logic states that Moon is taking Cioffi's place with a slight twist in coaching the d-line along with Montgomery.

The Bengals finalized their 2024 coaching staff this time last year. Expect a formal announcement here fairly soon.
