Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is one of the most competitive people on the planet.
And that doesn't just apply to the football field.
Regardless of the competition, Burrow wants to win. Badly.
The stories of the superstar quarterback's extreme competitiveness when it comes to ping pong, for example, are wide spread.
When Burrow was at LSU, he famously lost a game of ping pong to punter Zach Von Rosenberg before the Tigers' game against Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff semifinal. Burrow was so mad that he lost to Van Rosenberg that he stayed up the rest of the night playing.
"Joe literally stayed in there for the rest of the night playing ping-pong because he was so angry that he lost one game," said Blake Ferguson, Burrow's former teammate at LSU.
Burrow's been a dominant ping pong player in the NFL, too. But it looks like his ping pong days are behind him now.
On Wednesday, Burrow was asked how the Bengals stay competitive all season.
"We're competitive in everything in there," said Burrow. "I mean you guys (reporters) are in there when guys are playing ping pong. People at this level, they're competitive in everything they do."
A reporter then asked Burrow if he's played much ping ping this season.
"I haven't played much this year," said Burrow.
"I think I ping ponged myself out last year," added Burrow who noted, while laughing, that he's been cleared to play ping pong in light of the calf injury he suffered during training camp.
Maybe Burrow was just too dominant and it wasn't much of a challenge anymore.
I have a feeling, though, that all it will take is one teammate saying they can beat Burrow in ping pong to get a paddle back in the the former LSU standout's hands. You just know he's too competitive to turn down a challenge.
