While quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Tee Higgins manage through their respective injuries, the Cincinnati Bengals' offense figures to get healthier during practice this week.

Head coach Zac Taylor told reporters Wednesday that starting tight end Irv Smith Jr. will return to practice. Taylor did not say if Smith will go full Wednesday, but that they'll "be smart" on easing him back in to the offense.

Smith has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury and hasn't practiced since Week 2. Cincinnati replaced him in the offense with Tanner Hudson, who was called up from the practice squad in each of the last two weeks.

We haven't seen Smith's full potential in the Bengals' offense for a multitude of reasons, primarily because of Burrow's injury affecting his play, but the return of Smith could end up opening the passing game up more than it has been.

Higgins, unfortunately, will not practice Wednesday and is considered day-to-day going forward. The fourth-year receiver told reporters earlier in the week that it comes down to how he can manage the pain of his rib fracture he suffered against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.

Joining Higgins as DNPs for Wednesday were Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee) and Cam Taylor-Britt (concussion). The former missed last week and the latter entered the concussion protocol following Sunday's loss. It would not be surprising if neither played this week.

Orlando Brown Jr. (groin) is a surprise addition to the injury report as he was limited Wednesday. His ailment will be one to monitor as the week progresses. This is also the first time Burrow has not been listed on the injury report since the start of the season.
