The Cincinnati Bengals picked a huge win against the Chiefs last Sunday, their third over them in the last calendar. However, one of the Bengals' best defenders may be losing some greenbacks despite the big victory.

Safety Jessie Bates, who is playing on the franchise tag, is likely on his way to spending some of his 2022 salary on a fine from the NFL as he is being docked $50,000 for allegedly faking an injury versus the Chiefs in the first half.

Bates appealing the fine isn't surprising, no player wants to lose money. There's no way to definitively prove that a player fakes an injury, but in this case, Bates may need the best lawyer of all time to get him acquitted because the optics are not good, to say the least.

It isn't just Bates that will see his pockets take a hit if the decision is upheld. The Bengals will be hit with a minimum fine of $350k, head coach Zac Taylor will be fined $100k, and Bates' position coach, if applicable, will be fined $50k as well.

Hopefully, Bates got his Christmas shopping done early this year.
