One of the most exciting days in NFL history happened yesterday, and the Cincinnati Bengals were involved on the less fortunate side.

According to Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk, Sunday was the first time in NFL history that five teams game-winning field goals on the same day.

The Bengals were on the wrong end of one as Matt Ammendola of the Houston Texans squeaked in a 38-yarder as time expired in Paycor Stadium. It was Ammendola's third-ever field goal attempt in his career, locking in a 30-27 victory in front of Bengals' home crowd.

Going back to 2021, the Bengals have been involved in nine different game-winning field goal scenarios. Evan McPherson is 3/3 in game-winners with fewer than 10 seconds remaining, and opposing kickers are now 4/6 with the game on the line against Cincinnati.

The last occurrence was Week 5 of last season when Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens made a 43-yarder to win 19-17. Guess who the Bengals are facing this Thursday night?

This was one of the two closest losses for the Bengals this year, though there was little reason for that to be the case. The Texans experienced ample success on offense and shut down the Bengals' offense for the betterment of the second and third quarters. Joe Burrow also threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter alone, and C.J. Stroud did his best to return the favor with one of his own.

Ammendola may've won the game in the final seconds, but Stroud and his team played better for nearly all of 60 minutes. Look no further than the 17 explosive plays they created against the Bengals' defense. That's the fourth-most by an offense since 2000!

No one can say this game wasn't entertaining, that's for damn sure.
