Cincinnati Bengals fans let Sam Hubbard know just how much he meant to them not long after he announced his retirement from football.

The Sam Hubbard Foundation announced that its annual Fowling Tournament has sold out in a record time of 10 minutes Friday morning.

Hubbard's foundation hosts the tournament every year at the Cincinnati Fowling Warehouse. Fowling is a sport that combines football and bowling where two teams of two players try to knock down the opposition's 10 pins by throwing a football. The annual tournament pits Bengals fans and supporters against current and former players.

Registration for the tournament opened at 9:00 a.m. ET Friday morning. By 9:10, all the spots had filled. That is not a surprise considering what happened earlier this week.

Hubbard officially announced his retirement from the Bengals and professional football altogether Wednesday morning. It was a bittersweet decision for Bengals fans to reconcile with.

While it was likely for the Bengals to move on from Hubbard regardless of his future in the game, the 29-year old spent all seven years of his NFL career with the team he grew up rooting for as a Cincinnati native, born and raised. The only years he's spent outside the Queen City were the four years he played college football a hundred miles northeast at Ohio State.

He may not be Joe Burrow or Ja'Marr Chase, but Hubbard is just as respected and loved by Bengals fans as any player in recent memory. It just means more when someone from the community represents it so well on that stage.

Selling out his foundation's yearly tournament in mere minutes is the least the fanbase could do to showcase its collective gratitude for the career he put together. All without having to move out of town.

The tournament will be held Thursday, May 15.
