The Cleveland Browns have a big need this off-season that must be filled, or they could again have another disaster season next year.
Deshaun Watson suffered another season-ending injury and the Browns are forced to move on from him despite still being on the roster. Watson hasn’t played well when on the field and his availability should be the nail in the coffin.
Cleveland is going to be drafting a quarterback at some point, it is just a matter of when in the draft. In the latest mock draft at A to Z Sports from Ryan Roberts, the Browns go with the safer bet out of the top two quarterbacks.
Browns select Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders at No. 2 overall
“With the Browns having the choice between which quarterback they want, they eventually opt for the floor. Sanders is very accurate, and mostly a clean processor. The ceiling may not be anything special, but Sanders is the closest thing to a sure thing in this quarterback class.” — Ryan Roberts, A to Z Sports
Cleveland taking Sanders here is the safer bet and probably the choice they should make. Of course, the Titans may be taking a quarterback at No. 1 and that will leave the Browns with a decision to make if they do. However, in this draft, the Titans took the best player in the draft in my opinion, which is Penn State’s Abdul Carter.
Cleveland hasn’t had success with a player like Watson who loves to play off schedule. Bringing in a QB like Cam Ward would be adding another player who loves to play off-schedule. That is a risk for the Browns that could work, but risks can come with consequences. The Browns can not miss on this quarterback and if they do, jobs will be lost.
Sanders completed 74 percent of his passes in 2024 and tossed 37 touchdowns. The son of Deion Sanders is the most accurate quarterback in the draft, which would bode well for Kevin Stefanski’s offense.
The draft is still 100 days away and a lot can change. However, taking the safer pick at QB may need to be where the Browns lean, instead of the higher ceiling.

Would be a big move for Cleveland.
