Things may be quiet around the NFL for the most part right now, but that will soon change with the combine happening next week. Many offseason trades heat up at the combine, so it is something to pay attention to with the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns have a standing trade request from superstar DE Myles Garrett. Cleveland has remained steady with their plans of not trading their franchise cornerstone player.

Garrett is under contract for two more seasons and could be extended this summer by the Browns. Instead, he wants to be traded to a team that he feels is better suited to win. In a recent interview done by Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, one of Garrett’s teammates opened up about how the Browns can make things right with Garrett.

“I definitely think like Denzel (Ward) and everybody has talked about, you’ve just got to solidify that quarterback position,” Browns CB Greg Newsome II said.“You see the Commanders are pretty much right there to the get to the Super Bowl because they got that quarterback. The defense is the same defense. It’s just certain times we’re on the field a lot more when we didn’t have a stable person back there the entire time."

The Browns thought they traded for their franchise quarterback when they got Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans. That is now the worst trade in NFL history and the Browns await the time they can get out of that deal. Watson is likely not playing in 2025 after re-injuring his Achilles following surgery.

Jameis Winston is a free agent and Dorian Thompson-Robinson has shown nothing to believe he can be the guy you plan to start games at QB. The Browns are likely to sign a free-agent QB and draft one come April. Getting that right could be the first part of getting things right with Garrett.

Denzel Ward and now Newsome have both come out and said the Browns need a quarterback. The entire fanbase knows that the Browns still need their guy. Now, the team needs to go and execute that, or it may end up costing them their best player.
